Picking the Right Frame for You

Picking the correct frame for your face can seem overwhelming with all the choices available these days with all the choices. You have what the frame is made from, what color it is, what shape to pick, what designer you want to choose from. It’s a lot to think about. Luckily at modern optical locations the staff has become much more versed in the things that will work best for you but that doesn’t mean you should know a little bit about what you want when going to purchase a new pair of glasses.

Things you might want to give some consecration to before going is what sort of look and function you want out of your glasses, whether you want something new and trendy or simple and reliable. From there an educated optical technician should be able to easily bring multiple choices for you to look at and decide what you do and don’t like about them and from there pick out ones that are more to your personal taste.

There are some obvious rules to follow while considering frames though, you overall skin tone, hair color and eye color should help you decide what colors you might like or what would look best on. A cool complexion looks better in matching tones like black, rose-brown, blue-gray, plum, magenta, pink, jade, blue and demi-amber (darker) tortoise, where a warmer complexion would look paired with khaki, gold, copper, peach, orange, coral, off-white, red, warm blue and blond tortoise. You’ll also want to balance face shape with a contrasting shaped frame, and one that’s the correct size.

While these are just a few guidelines to go by there really is no way better to know what will fit you best without going in and trying on a few pair, at our location we keep thousands of frames in stock and are always ready to offer advice on styles and to let you try on whatever you would like.
